Finally, we are running out of work

Everyone says: "Praise work!“ We say: "Condemn wage labour!"
In a playful blend of music and spoken word, we approach a state of pleasant idleness with Marx. 150 years ago, Capital was published, a comprehensive critique of labour and wages. It states beautifully that "the realm of freedom actually begins only where labour which is determined by necessity and mundane considerations ceases. The shortening of the working day is its basic prerequisite." Yet, are we experiencing anything such as this today — despite an even more sophisticated technology and working robots? Do we work less?

At the same time, we can detect cracks in the machinery of our work-oriented society — and often also in the individual itself. More and more people are trying to escape their work circumstances. At the same time, we witness an unworthy scrum for the few exciting jobs out there. There is a dangerous chasm between break-neck competition and the promise of self-realisation and recognition through work. Mind the gap!

For WIENWOCHE, the group 150 years after stages this ambivalent scenario as a music revue theatre. They show that thinking about a time beyond our current work society is worthwhile and beautiful. First, the ghost of Communism hunts Fluc_Wanne for an hour, before a DJ line-up reflects the topic at the café upstairs, presenting Denice Bourbon, Sissyboi, and Drehli Robnik. We shall take the Proletenpassion by political rock band Schmetterlinge literally and will be passionately classless!

150 years after is a highly collaborative group of artists and writers that has set itself the goal, not to rest until "class" becomes a battle cry again.
